Massy Books: Community and Learning

During a recent visit to Massy Books in downtown Vancouver, our team was reminded that some spaces are much more than what they appear to be at first glance. Massy Books is not just a bookstore: it is a living, breathing space for Indigenous stories, knowledge-sharing, and community connection.

As part of our ongoing work with Empowerment Pathways, we were grateful to purchase a selection of books from Massy Books to support program participants. These books will serve as reference materials and research resources, helping participants deepen their learning, strengthen their business plans, and explore new ideas through Indigenous knowledge and lived experience.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to Patricia Massy, whose kindness, leadership, and vision continue to inspire us to show up, support local, and believe in the power of community-driven business.

The visit was shared by Sarah Hopkins from Three Sisters Consulting, alongside members of the SEF Canada team. Together, we experienced firsthand the vibrant spirit and meaningful impact that Massy Books brings to the community.

We’re also excited to share that both SEF Canada and Massy Books will be present at IPSS 2025, where we look forward to continuing conversations around Indigenous entrepreneurship, education, and community empowerment.

This visit reinforced something we hold deeply: when we support local Indigenous businesses, we strengthen ecosystems of learning, resilience, and opportunity. We’re grateful for spaces like Massy Books and for the role they play in nurturing both knowledge and possibility.

Here’s a glimpse of our visit, and an invitation to continue uplifting Indigenous stories, businesses, and futures together.
